An industry doesn't own the word but the word does have a definition/meaning.
"Milk" comes from a mammary gland.
By saying the industry "letting" others use the word milk implies ownership. I refer to dairy milk as dairy milk and almond milk as almond milk. No one opens almond milk thinking it is dairy or at least no one who is of reasonable intelligence. |
