Subject: RE: Cows to justify a bull

NE of Des Moines
I agree with Jim.
I have my own bull. I have three cows, plus two 2 yr old heifers to breed this fall/winter. For renting one by the time I paid for the service fee, going to and from the owners farm etc. in three years a bull will pay for himself, except for the feed etc. and I know what genitices my bull has.
All of my animals are DNA tested and registered. Although my enterprise is small, I enjoy working with them and the bull calves end up as steers and in the familys freezer.
I have sold critters that have ended up in other states, one phone call was to say that a bred heifer I sold had a bull calf and they were keeping him for a bull. That made my day .
