That is a storage compartment. You would also wrap a leg of lamb or quarter up. Would then store it in there in heat of day, then hang it up on outside on meat hook by front door at night. I will have to get more pics when he cleans it up, starts working on it. Has wood stove in corner, two bench seats that have storage under them. The bed is in back of it above storage. The table pulls out it sits under bed.
