Hennepin, IL | Not saying you're wrong, because you're probably not. The big issue flying in the face of contract grain farming is the output can be so unpredictable. With hogs, once you can establish a pig per litter number and a death loss % in an operation, you get a real good idea of the output of that operation. Grain yield can vary 10-20% year in and year out without anything major like a drought. Not saying grain may not eventually gravitate that direction, because it very well could. My guess is you may start to see input suppliers try their hand at this at some point. | |
