Subject: RE: Hog Barn smell

southern MN
I remember way back decades ago when 10 sows on a farm were common, 1 or 2 of every 5 farmplaces.

I roadie the bus an hour and a half through gravel roads farm country every day.

Boy oh boy did the countryside stink, especially the whole spring time.

But it wasn't a deal, it was just so common.

Now around here, I think my county is the forth highest number of hog buildings in the state, and you smell the barns a bit, and they are pretty bad for the three days after they spread manure.

But it isn't near as bad as it used to be, with the hundreds of small operations we used to have.
