And does Trump believe that going to a trade war over Canada's punitive dairy import tarrifs is worth it, will it make any difference to the small midwestern farmer, other then a brief blip in price? It's possible that USA surplus output could supply the entire Canadian market. Our country will not stand by while the ability to feed itself with domestic product is wiped out.


Canada has the exact same problem tho. large farms expand while the small ones get pushed out. same story with pretty much every part of agriculture really. only real difference is that the supply management effectively blocks out new comers unless they already have deep pockets while the established mega farms keep expanding. take a drive around and it's mostly the dairy farmers putting up new buildings and buying up all the land pushing prices higher and higher. of course you can't put all the blame on supply management because like i said it's happening in all areas but those that fall under supply management sure are better off then the rest
