| Collectively we all have control of this market. None of us do as an individual. All we have to do is bush hog 5% of our crop and corn acres go down 4.5 million. Then you will have corn with a high 4 or even a 5 in front of it. The problem is we as an industry are too greedy and wouldn't do our part because we wouldn't want to take the chance that the neighbor down the road wouldn't bush hog his 5% and would have an advantage on us.
I would rather haul 5% less corn to the elevator and make more money than haul all 100% for $2. If farmers were realist and would put a pencil to paper it's easy to see 160 bushel corn at $4 pencils a lot better than 185 bushel corn at $2.50. But I guess guys would rather go to the coffee shop and say they raised 185 corn than 160.
Personally, when it comes to farm income I wished as a group we thought more like bankers. | |
