Whatever you did, short of something completely sinister, will get better for her. In this world, you only get one mother and father. She'll remember that more and more everyday. I accepted my father for his faults and whatever pain was caused in younger days by him.
I was only causing further pain not allowing myself that relationship. Reaching out to her won't necessarily help or hurt. If you know an address to send a card, handwritten words really mean something. That is hard to ignore.
When you do get the chance to speak to her in person again, be the best you can be.
