N. Indiana | Usually ten minutes is considered a standard time in most states. That being said, the railroad does not care. They can and will stop for hours. Just the way it is. Separating the train for a crossing is usually not considered anymore unless cars are being set out and left in a siding. The railroad is determined to run longer trains so fitting between rural crossings is next to impossible in populated areas. If this is one of the major class 1 railroads just realize this has little to do with the crew or even local management, a dispatcher or upper management are making that call and they could care less about blocking a rural crossing. | |
