Subject: RE: Wood preservative

NE SD
We treat the wood decks of our trailers annually with 1/3 boiled linseed oil, 1/3 turpentine and 1/3 oil based exterior paint. It is thin enough to spray or roll and will color the wood somewhat the color of the paint but the wood grain will still show. This is what our local contractors recommend if you have cedar/wood shingles. Will preserve and prevent the wood from drying out to stop any warping or dishing. Using old oil works too thinned down but takes longer to dry and can leave a slightly tacky surface.
