Subject: RE: a dad knows how to handle kids

Lancaster, OH
Ours started to have a tantrum in Sears in the mall when he was about 2 1/2 or so. I sat him down on the floor and said that we are not going to be around a child acting like that and we were leaving. I told him that maybe we would come back to get him.

He got really quiet the moment we walked away (we could see him through the clothes rack all the time). After a short time, I'm sure he thought it was forever, I went back and asked if he'd like to come with us. He said yes and behaved like a champ.

No tantrums again after that. Very impactful when you do that when they are very young. Better than trying to fix it later.

In animal behavior, I believe we call that Imprinting.
