Powerful post. My paternal grandfather's only sibling, his older brother, was killed when Grandpa was 12 and Edward 14. A few years before Grandpa passed away, Dad and I sprung him from assisted living for lunch with us. We drove by where Edward's accident occurred and Grandpa motioned to it as being the spot. He had never mentioned his brother in my presence ever before. I never knew my great grandparents so I don't know how they dealt with it but they did somehow. | |
