Wow, this thread is powerful, & brought up two different thoughts.
One, May 13, Mother's Day, will be the one-year anniversary of my wife's daughter, my stepdaughter, being shot & killed by her boyfriend. She was 31. There will be no headstone, half of her ashes were scattered on the river property where her Grandfather loved to hunt ducks & geese. The other half will be spread this summer at the mountain lake where her other Grandfather's ashes are. Her killer is behind bars but still has not stood trial due to the glacial progress of the legal system...
This will be a tough week for my wife.
Two, my maternal Grandmother was born in 1900, so she was one year older than little Martha Reincke. She grew up to be one of the finest, toughest people who ever lived.
That was a fine thing to do, remembering Martha after so many years.
