Dad had a guy try to pay him off with a coming 2 year old thoroughbred gelding that they thought was going to be pretty good. The bill was for $1,500 but dad didn't know anything about thoroughbreds and thought a gelding would not amount to much.
My wife and I visited that horse maybe 25 years ago. His name was John Henry. $6,000,000 in lifetime winnings.
