Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | I've been involved on a couple of different partnerships and considering a third. This last one may not be a go. The labor situation would be right but a little too much land to get done with one set of machinery.
In the other two partnerships, the first one had very little machinery but did some trucking and hired labor in exchange for my custom farming. The second partnership is beginning to go away as he is getting a lot of his own equipment and labor so he doesn't need my custom farming as much.
I think the main thing is the personalities need to blend well together. And there needs to be a "need" on both partners part to keep it going. In other words both would have more to lose by not being in the partnership than being in one. |
