WC MN | The West Lake Okoboji post made me curious of what ice out dates vs yield looked like for my area. I found ice out dates on the MN DNR site for Lake Minnewaska, the large lake in my area. I searched the NASS site for corn and soybean yields for Pope, Stevens and Swift, the three counties we farm in.
The attached spreadsheet contains the info I found. It appears there is a direct correlation to ice out date and corn yields in particular. It may be difficult for those of us in the upper midwest to make up for a cold late start.
Not trying to kill the crop but interesting data.
