I planted mine to hay. The landowner can still hay the land also if they want to. It is not worth it to put up hay in small areas but we just squared the field off and planted about 15 acres of alfalfa next to one ditch. The others ditches will just be wasted grass land ( I meant to say beautiful native prairie vegetation).
