Subject: RE: For those with old crop corn in the bin.......

Pittsburg, Kansas

Been selling all winter long. Normally sell some every week, but we will vary that a little. For example now that the price has dropped some we might take a couple week break. When the price ran up we sold a little extra. But regardless of what price does, we will resume metering it out within a couple weeks and sell some each week. We meter it out so the bins will be cleaned out by mid August.

We only try to out gess the market a little. Mostly we take the averages and try to avoid sales during harvest. If we feel we will need to sell some during harvest (for lack of bin space or cash flow) we usually contract that ahead in June or July for fall delivery.

It is a very unsophisticated marketing plan but it is minimal stress and fits out labor pool and ability to move the grain out of the bins in a timely fashion without hiring a lot of trucking.
