SE SD | Worked on a Bolman trough style waterer. The guy had built a grid from
rebar. Basically had like square hole 8x8 pattern in it. Said his heifers didn't
stick thier nose in and clean out thier nostrils anymore.
Maybe not enough room to get the mouth open to far. IDK
He was trying to prevent mud holes on the edge of his apron.
Seemed to work for him. No mud hole.
This was an open lot, not in a building.
Yours might be worth a try. Wouldn't cost much.
Grid on top and extra length of rebar bent down the edge
like spider legs. Lift on and off, basically a cage.
