Experience will teach one how to operate that head gate.  I have caught thousands of calves with one just like it over my lifespan.  And never had enough trouble to write a book.  I would not think twice about using it.  In addition, don't think anyone asked how it would be used.  Frequency ect. So many variables.  For instance lots of time for worming pour on and cutting tags we will line calves up in the alleyway and never catch a head.   (30 head threw today and zero problems)    Look for an adjustment, catch a mature cow when it is set for calves and they choke, catch a calf when it is set for cows and it will not hold them.  That style does not bother me any.   My first head gate was a rope and a post almost 50 yrs ago.
