| We are kind of on our own. My broker is good with grain, but not pigs.
A few nuggets which I try to get done during the year.
Sell the fall months during July. Even if it's 15-20 discount to cash. One always thinks it can't crash that far that fast. It can, it will.
Usually try to sell some year out summers too. But I don't hold them through winter. Don't be short after Pearl Harbor Day,(Dec7) sometimes that's too early, sometimes too late. But the fall puke is either over, or nearly so.
Stay uncovered through spring,if the market s going to get good, don't want to get in the way of the summer rally, just take whatever comes.
Options don't work very good, but might sell some Dec mid70 calls and hoped to get exercised. Packer forward contracts work worse than DP grain contracts.
Pray for precision placed tornadoes and a good insurance settlement.....stuff like that.
Pray for a precision placed tornado, and good insurance settlement, .......should I say it again?
