Subject: Wireless from the house to the barn

eastern Kansas
Updated the computer in our barn office and the "long range wireless adapter" which was receiving the internet from the house is apparently not compatiable with vista. We were using a netgear px 300 or 400 maybe? It had a remote antannea which sit ontop of the desk in order to recieve the signal. I am not sure the distance from there to the house 100 yards maybe more and in a cinder block building. Anyway not sure what we shoulod replace it with.
my laptop will pick up the signal about 1/2 across this distance and sometimes very breifly while sitting in the barn. Staples said what I had sounded commercial not consumer-like and they could maybe special order something. any help is appreciated.
