| I've grown it double crop several times and that's what I see too. If it gets cold, highs in the low fifties or upper 40's, even without a freeze, it just shuts the plant down. Leaves start getting a reddish tint and the thing just kinda stalls and doesn't add starch. It takes some lows in the 50's to make it look like it's going again.
On the other hand, if a plant needs 600 more gdu by the book, I'm of the belief it may only take 300 more as it goes through more and more days with fewer heat units. This as long as it doesn't catch a spell where highs are in forties or low fifties.
If there's a lot of corn up there that still needs over 4-500 heat units though.... Catching 10 gdus a day sure doesn't move it along very fast. | |
