Subject: RE: Land Cost

Boone Co. Iowa
https://www.agry.purdue.edu/ext/corn/news/timeless/yieldtrends.html

1968, about 80 bpa national average

1981, about 105 bpa national average

today, lets use 165 bpa national average

1968, 375 bushels could be grown on (375/80) 4.68 acres

1981, 1300 bushels could be grown on 12.38 acres

today, 2600 bushels could be grown on 15.75 acres

If you do some rounding, in 1968 it took 5 acres to buy one acre, in 1981 it took 12 acres to buy an acre, today it takes 16 acres to buy an acre.
