You can sell Z8 futures today for $3.94. Add $0.25 of carry on it your at $4.19 CN Most make a profit there. I'd set the over/under on 2018 corn acres at 93.5 million and probably rising.

To the original message, corn is king here, 2/3 of the acres and I don't see that changing, soil and climate says corn.

Only year I ever saw an appreciable amount of land not planted was 1992, eternal spring and summer monsoons. The. Most of us baled the pigeon grass for hay or straw in fall so even if not planted, we still farmed it. Here every square acre and 95% of the crooked ones are planted, letting land sit does not happen. Ever. I don't understand that concept either, as it just isn't done here. Why would you let land set bare, or not farm it? Foriegn concept.
