If you substitute their numbers into the USDA August report the result is 164,9. They're not even being honest with themselves or the data they collected. They might just as well not have run all around the Midwest all week, just published that 167 number and saved all the effort and bother.
It's one thing to just make up a story but it's quite another to make story that your own data doesn't support. That's just absurd.
To quote from the Profarmer Tour home page: "The Farm Journal Pro Midwest Crop Tour’s primary goal is to provide the industry with accurate growing season information about likely corn and soybean yields at the state and regional levels during the upcoming harvest season."
