Pocahontas, IA

And so am responding to those posts. Pocahontas is between Fonda and Emmetsburg.

They missed a lot of rain. We drove around NW IA along time couple weeks back it wasn't good. But as soon as I said that someone who lived there told me I was wrong. All I know is Spencer to around Early looked awful. Get closer to SD border it looked better. Fonda north to Emmetsburg was bad, 71 to 59 corridor was real spotty. Lots of bushels that would normally be there aren't there this year. JMO

I was thinking more along the lines of 180 bushel corn and 60 bushel beans that could be the low end

I would say most in that area was well over 180 last year. I don't think they raise great beans up there for the most part. But hell I don't know. Have always been jealous of that area up there.

I don't ever remember that area so dry, very good heavy soils. They've had it tough this year.

NW Iowa
Yes Pocahontas county has been very dry. Finally got some rain the other day but so much damage had already been done. County average could easily be 75bu less than last year.

This is a graph of rainfall from Climate.

Here is a field that USDA is sampling this summer.  This farm is about 2 miles Northwest of Pocahontas.  This field has been continuous corn for 6 years.
