North Central Illinois
Years ago the end rows always seemed to handle stress better and yield better. Now it seems like the rest of the field is better than the headlands. I think this is due in part to bigger equipment and more compaction on headlands. We address the compaction and do a pretty decent job of it but I think some of our headlands still suffer a little because of it. Anytime you have compaction, environmental stress will show up worse.
