Do you happen to have the previous years maps for this same timeframe? Normal is not what I would call the last 2 and possible the last 4 Augusts. August 2015, 2016 composites of the Palmer drought index show that all of IL and most if not all of IA was moderately moist to very moist with not even a normal in the bunch. My guess is a whole bunch more pink and blues were on the crop moisture index map last Aug and the Aug before that. Normal weather does not equal 190-200 bu corn in IL(yet, give trend another 10 years).
