Don't get me wrong: Hayward is popular for a reason. Plenty to do there and not feel crowded. Act like a local and you'll have a good time. (get downtown early, hit the Flea Market on Monday, float the Namekogin, ice cream @ Wests, pizza @ Coops, daytrip to Amnicon Falls or Copper Falls...)
