Central Iowa | I would call it a pretty lame rain event. I think I was in the largest red cell across the center of the state and had 0.4".... first rain in 12 days. Farm Logs is telling me central Iowa is 30% behind on moisture and 9% ahead on heat.....No where near the moisture we need to get through pollination and see 250 bu corn like I want. I will probably have 220 bu corn though. Either way.... Yes we have deep roots I know I won't EVER have any complete crop failures but a 10-20% reduction in yield is huge when trend-line puts Iowa at what? 200-205/acre state wide? Most of the state has to pollinate next week and won't have the moisture to break last years records.. I'm taking a guess at 188-190 state average assuming dry and hot for next week... Dry and hot for two weeks... take another 5 off of it.
