EC North Dakota | All our landlords were on shares when I was a kid. My dad was super strict on getting every bushel to the landlord that they had coming. He'd make us sweep the combine hoppers, trucks and pail up the grain left in the auger hopper. I'd say why don't we just leave it every time, the landlord would get the same if he started with the corners full and ended full as if he started empty and ended empty. Nope! We don't want any chance one landlord gets shorted.
Years later, my cousin told me his land here made double the share rent as his other land. No doubt because his other tenants weren't honest. | |
