niobrara nebraska | I would agree. Cow calf isn't much fun at the moment and cattle feeders haven't had much fun for 3 years as they bought high priced cattle and then sold lower priced. It has gotten serious now that even cow calf guys aren't having much fun between high rent or taxes on owned pasture really taking the profit out of things. In our area barns are telling guys like us that usually background to 850-1000ilbs that you might as well finish them........Now if that doesn't make the hair on the back of your neck stand up I don't know what will..........Kind of like when a banker says man you should be buying those 1500 dollar calves off the cow to background............Yes I know feed costs are low, but lets invest 2k to try and make 25 dollars a head or better yet loose 4-500 a head. | |
