NW Iowa
Our area was hit hard by AI in 2015, millions of laying hens and turkeys had to be euthanized. It had little to no effect on local cash basis--we have multiple feed mills and e-plants pulling corn from here. I would say this issue will also have virtually no effect, especially on the Board.

I read the yahoo article, and unfortunately read the comments too. Its disappointing how un-informed people are, and the problem with internet and social media is that ignorance spreads like Kansas wildfire. One comment gushed about AI infecting the human population and 30 million women and children will die (no human illnesses reported here in 2015). Another lamented the inevitable rise in chicken prices in the grocery store, ignoring the fact only turkeys were mentioned in the article. Yet another wondered why AI only seems to strike "factory farmed" turkeys, apparently unaware that there virtually no such thing as small-scale poultry production at all......

Information travels too fast these days, as does ignorance. Combine the two and its a big factor behind how our country has gotten to where it is.
