| State proprety tax is 1% of purchase price + an annual increase of 1%. Plus any improvements... Improvements can be something like planting a perminant crop.
Most farmland here sells for 30,000 per acre for the land and then at that price you are going to need to plant a perminant crop such as an orchard or vineyard which adds another 10,000 per acre.
So all the folks who purchased land recently and put in trees are looking at $400 per acre for the states portion, plus local and district taxes that bring our county taxes on the new purchases at $500 per acre.
Luckily so far our land is from before the big land rush, but the improvements are taxed at the value they were installed/planted. | |
