...I would send law enforcement. He out and out stole them from you. All the law enforcement has to do is ask if he cut more than one tree at your place. If he says yes....law enforcement has a case against him. ...The officer can also tell him that DNA testing will be done and in addition to the price of the walnut he stole...he would be liable for the DNA test fee...(Right around $1200-1300 bucks.)



Forester here just cut off a 1" slice of the butt log to match to the stump. Rings are like fingerprints. No need for DNA testing. This happened here about 15 years ago to a neighbor with veneer oak logs that were illegally taken from his property.
