W Texas | Ok. So desert SW hay farmers have been having a hard time with the local hay market last few years due to increasing imports of Mexican hay through El Paso. Historically hay has been more valuable in Chihuahua than the US, so it has been puzzling how they can get hay to dairies in NM so cheaply, to say the least. I will allow you to make your own inferences.
I think that has all come to an abrupt end in the very recent past. Not sure I am at liberty to say why, as I do not want to jeopardize anyone's safety. But SW Alfafa market may have some legs under it for 2017. | |
