just looking forward, with oil looking to push through 55 today, I wonder what capacity are the etol plants running at now, or what is their maximum output in bbls per day, I think we are running what, just over a shade over 1mllion now.

if the lights are on they are running pretty much wide open

keep in mind, the ethanol industry by todays standards of industry is mature in its current state. most plants have their capital paid off or very much in check. this means that if variable cost and upkeep are being covered by even 1 penny they will run wide open because that's a profit.

reality is, the oil industry doesn't hate ethanol. The oil industry hates that they don't have control over it. If the oil industry had it their way they would bankrupt every plant out there, then buy them all, build more, rebadge it as the next best thing since sliced bread, tank basis to buy the raw commodity cheaper, blend crappier gas and make more money.
