WC Mn/Dakotas
I zone sample. I take 12 cores each from the very best, middle or average, and worst areas. So 3 samples sent to Midwest Labs per field. A complete analysis costs about $26/sample. If you want recs that is $1/sample for up to 3 yield goals. I mail samples over night and takes about 3 days at lab to get results emailed back.

I charge $2.50/acre to zone sample. I charge - $5-6/acre to handle all data, mapping, analysis, and reports per year. Nearly all my growers use a fertility specialist i have partnered with that charges $6/acre per year for all fertility recs and rx maps.

We would like to sample behind the combine every year for 4 years to get a baseline, if weather cooperates, and then sample every 3-4 years after that.

So total per year is usually about $13.50/acre. This is not the easiest way, but has proven to be very efficient ROI. This is a very detailed and accurate system for those that arent satisfied with "good enough".

Usually you profit from at least 1 if not a combination of both. Either our fert costs are around $40/acre less than what the labs or universities/coops have had you do, or you yield 5-8 bu more beans and 10-20 bu more corn
