Ridgway, IL | Another thing, your home raised calves having been weaned a few days are really going through a critical time right now, I don't care how it's done, freshly weaned calves are under some stress level for a couple weeks. Putting the new calves with them is another complication in their weaning process.
It sounds like you're doing a really good job building immunity through vaccination. I'd honestly call that #3 in the list of things to manage starting cattle. #1 is environment. #2 is nutrition.
