Well when super dooper tillage radish pushes vertical up out of the ground when it hits a hard pan what exactly is it accomplishing? Furthermore I disagree with your blanket statement on compaction. Dry ground with a straight shank with a non winged point does not cause a new hard pan. Even if it did, a new hard pan at 16" is a helluva lot better than a radish 16" out of the ground....
