Subject: RE: opinion on JD IVT

Pittsburg, Kansas

That is kind of what I guessed on fuel consumption. I know some companies have been touting reduced fuel consumption as a reason to own an IVT but I could never see how something that was using a hydrostat hydraulic drive for part of the propulsion could ever beat a power shift or standard transmission in heavy tillage without very carefully picking a speed for the job at hand in which the non-IVT would be at its absolute worst possible case senario (not quite enough power to shift up to the next gear so not running full power but at full rpm) and the IVT would be using the smallest percentage of its power for the hydraulic portion (maximum transfer of power in the gear portion and minimal in the hydrostat). I figured the advertisments were smoke and mirrors and you confirm it.

I think the companies hire out of work lawyers for their advertising specialists. They don't technically lie but sure are adept at only telling the protion of the truth that fits their agendas.

I don't own one but can sure see where they could shine in the right type of use.

Thanks for the report.
