West central missouri | I have not had any Ritchie waterers, but have 8 Mirafounts dating back 27 years. 22 Cobetts, oldest is 3 years. 20 tire tanks in a variety of situations from spring developments to pressure lines to below ponds. The mirafounts have lots of valve problems with our high sulfur water. In the future the only way I will install another is in a lot where I need one tank to serve more than one pen. The tire tanks work very well as Ben says where water is free flowing like a spring development. I have a couple on pressure lines and really have no complaints except they are slower to install than the Cobetts. In my opinion, the Cobetts are the best of the energy free waterers. In extremely cold weather you may have to crack the skim of ice first thing in the morning, but they will be good for the rest of the day. We have them in pastures where they are ignored for most of the winter. They will have a large chunk of ice, but have never had a tank or valve or intake line damaged. | |
