At some point it will be cheaper to hire someone competent with electronics; let them run the equipment without interfering with them and pay them 70K a year. You look at the average age of farmers and you will see that the problem might not be the equipment but that the operators are getting too old to want to adapt to new technology or want to adapt and can not figure out how to. In 2008 I was the only person at a dealer meeting that even remotely thought about purchasing integrated row shut offs. Now everyone wants them. I made a lot of money in the $7 corn era by adapting to the newest technology.

This website it outside the norm of farmers. People come here to see the newest technology and might have the ability to run the equipment but overall at least in my area it's not the case.
