Subject: RE: Planting peanuts on new ground

South Central GA
I would put down a little fertilizer preplant. Like 300 lb 5-15-30 or anything to give it a start, especially since it has been years since a crop has been planted. That is what I do on new ground that is going to be planted to peanuts. They use a lot of potash. If it was me i would definitely put peanut inoculat down also to get nitrogen fixing bacteria down around the seed. Yes they do require alot of calcium. We come back 30 days after planting and put out land plaster (gypsum) for pod fill. I dont know where you are, but "here" in south central GA this works for us.
