Perpendicular is best. That will drive over the least amount of corn. Any less of an angle will take out more plants and driving with the row gets real old fast and if you get off you can take out 20-50' in a hurry on 2 rows.


Do the math again.

50 feet x 2 (tires) = 100 feet /17.5 feet = .006 of an acre gone/smashed. = 260 sqaure feet

If you take a 120' boom sprayer and are running 14" tires, you are running over corn 1.9% (28"/1440" = .019).
.019 x 43560 = 827 square feet.

Every situation is different with corners and waterways. and some operators can't stay between the rows very good. But you could drive over 150 feet of a row with both tires on one acre and be equal to driving across all rows spraying at a 90 degree angle. assuming a 120' boom.
