Subject: Terminating rye before haying?

St. Henry, Indiana
We usually hay 40-100 acres of cover crop cereal rye each year for our cattle. As you all know, the quality deteriorates rapidly. We have been drenched this spring and the rye is in the early heading stages. We have rain forecast all next week. I am thinking about spraying the rye tomorrow to stop the growth. I am going to spray with glyphosate only. Aside from the field not drying out, is there any other reasons for concern? I would like to stop plant growth and salvage the hay quality. I was also wondering how the dead rye will dry standing? I figured some of you may do preharvest dessication and be able to better inform me. Thanks
