| dvswia - 5/8/2016 12:57 many guys think that the line is their line. actually nobody gets to farm the line. if one guy has a row on it the other guy is giving it to him free of charge.
I don't want a row "on the line". Ideally, if the fence doesn't present a problem doing so, I want a row 15-20" inside of the line.
When old barb wire gets to the point of being brittle it starts falling off of the posts and it will jump out and grab an implement that doesn't make contact with the fence. Wildlife and the elements do enough damage to those old fences to put wire out in the field.
I really don't see why there is a need to keep old brittle falling apart barb wire out there, its certainly not going to hold livestock in if that very unlikely need ever arises.
Thankfully most guys around here see it the same as I do. Never been told "no" yet to removing the wire. Just need time to get more of them done.
