Every farm is different. We are in cold north of southern Manitoba. Cold spring as soon as soil is barely warm enough we plant corn. I would think if you can afford to wait for more heat, there is more soil nutrients available. Cold soils I put 5 gallons 10-34-0 in furrow its readily available. We have high ph soils 6.8-7.4 which tie up phosphorus.. Did a side by side a few years ago 7 bushel acre more with the starter. Do you own side by side.
