That might work in a corn soybean rotation but there are many crops that there isn't anything that will touch alfalfa that is registered for those crops. For example pocessing tomatoes or chives after alfalfa is asking for disaster.

Yeah, you got me on that.  I should say that alfalfa is easy to kill with herbicides if going to a grass crop, which is what 99% of people would be doing.
